Old Forge Lady Blue Devil Rachel Murray commits to PSU Scranton
Dunmore, Pa. – Old Forge utility infielder Rachel Murray has signed with Penn State Scranton to continue her education and softball career with the Lady Lions beginning this fall.
As part of the Old Forge Lady Blue Devils, Rachel was a key member of the starting line up that led the team to their 3rd consecutive District Championship in 2022 and second round State Tournament appearance. In her senior season, Rachel batted .357 with a .416 on base percentage and .457 slugging percentage while tallying 25 hits, one home run, 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Defensively, Rachel was a force with a .893 fielding percentage turning three double plays with only six errors on the season.
"Rachel is a hard worker who has a passion for the game that translates well into her play on the field," Head Softball Coach Mar Tsakonas commented. "Adding a player with her versatility to the roster will definitely give us a much-needed spark to not only our defensive play, but our offensive attack."
Murray will join the Scranton Lady Lions this fall as a freshman majoring in Division of Undergraduate Studies.
