Old Forge's Olivia Shimonis joins the Lady Lions class of 2025
DUNMORE, Pa. -- Olivia Shimonis, a 2021 graduate of Old Forge High School, has signed with the Penn State Scranton softball team and will join the Lady Lions this fall as a freshman infielder.
Olivia played four years of softball for the Old Forge Blue Devils. During her career at Old Forge, she was selected as an honorable mention Lackawanna League All Star in her freshman season and was selected as a first team for the Lackawanna League Senior All Star Game. Shimonis also led the Lady Blue Devils to the 2019 and 2021 District 2A Championship titles.
Shimonis committed to Penn State Scranton after Head Coach Mar Tsakonas watched her perform in travel practice. "She has all the tools we are looking for in a recruit. She will bring great fielding and be the defensive presence in the circle that we need," Tsakonas commented. Shimonis' power hitting, which lifted the Blue Devil's past Riverside and Lackawanna Trail this past season, will give the Lady Lions the offensive boost they are looking for.
Off the field you might catch Olivia on the water this summer, enjoying some fishing before she enters the fall semester in Division of Undergraduate Studies.
