McIntyre continues family legacy at PSU Scranton
Dunmore, Pa. – Scranton High School infielder Thomas McIntyre has signed with Penn State Scranton to continue his academic, baseball and golf careers with the Nittany Lions beginning this fall.
Playing the infield and catching for Scranton High School, McIntyre was a key member of the starting line up that led the Knights to playoffs this spring. In his senior season, Thomas had a .967 fielding percentage with only 3 errors on the year. At the plate, McIntyre batted .306 with 19 hits, 9 runs scored and 7 RBIs.
"We are looking forward to bringing Thomas in this year," Head Baseball Coach Collin Ferguson commented. "He's a hardworking kid who wants to win and help get this program to the level of competition we strive for." Ferguson, who joined Penn State Scranton at the start of the 2022 season, coaches McIntyre at the Sandlot Baseball Academy. Ferguson enters his second year with the Lions this fall along with Assistant Coach Nick Demian, a former PSU Scranton stand-out pitcher and 2014 PSUAC All-Conference player.
On the course, McIntyre will add to the Lions competitive roster, shooting in the 80's during his senior season, which will help propel the Men's squad in 2022 in the PSUAC. As the son of Penn State Scranton's long-time Head Women's Basketball Coach Tom McIntyre, Thomas will follow in his father's footsteps as a dual-sport athlete and finance major at the Scranton campus this fall.
