This week’s campus Player of the Week is Men's Basketball senior center, Jeff Panetti. In the last game of his collegiate career against Penn State Schuylkill, Jeff pulled out all the stops as he posted a career highs in points, rebounds, and blocks. Panetti went into the locker room at half-time shooting 100 percent from the floor and leading Scranton with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
In the 2nd half, Jeff rallied as he helped his team chip away at the lead, ultimately hitting two clutch 3-pointers from the top of the key, cutting the defecit to one, 76-75. Before leaving the floor for the last time to a standing ovation from the home crowd, Panetti added an additional 8 points, 4 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks to help propel his team into overtime.
Scranton fell just short of the win 101-97, however, Jeff’s final stat line remained impressive, consisting of 20 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 assists.
Upon graduating in the spring with a major in Information Sciences and Technology and a minor in Security Risk Analysis, Jeff plans to persue his masters while securing a job in database organziation or business systems analysis. Jeff compiled a repertoire of achievements throughout his career, including eight PSUAC Academic All-Conference Awards, four USCAA National All-Academic Awards, and earning the 2017 Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter of the Alumni Association's Male Academic-Athlete of the Year.
