Dan Simonds
Sophomore Pitcher Earns Player of the Week
Dan Simonds made big moves last week as the Penn State Scranton Baseball took the field for the first time this spring. A Montrose graduate, Dan was the starting pitcher in their season opener and moved on to short stop in the next game against Hazleton. Although falling short at home against Wilkes Barre Dan led the team at Hazleton going 3 for 3 with one run and 4 RBI's in an 8-6 victory. At Montrose Dan played soccer, baseball and basketball where he earned All-State Goalie and was on the 2nd Team All Stars his senior year. Dan is a sophomore majoring in criminology with hopes of becoming an FBI Agent. In the fall Dan will be moving to University Park where he was accepted into his major. Dan is a leader on both the baseball and soccer fields as he assistant coaches the Montrose Varsity Soccer team. As a coach and a player Dan goes into each game with the motto, " Play your own game." He doesn't let himself get caught up in it or let others bring him down. Growing up as a Penn State fan Dan says the best part of being at Penn State is just the fact he gets to be a " Penn Stater" and is proud to call himself one. When he's not on the field Dan likes to watch sports and work his summer job. Congratulations Dan!
